2021 - Inaugural FatBatWeek
Fatbat and Lolly bowls

2021 - 2022 - 2023 - 2024 - 2025 (Starting First Friday of October!) - Home

This project started on Twitter (RIP) - I follow a lot of bat scientist online and someone mentioned, in response to the annual Fat Bear Week, that it was a shame there wasn't a "Fat Bat Week". I leapt on that idea and it has continued annually. A particular shout out to @honkifurhoary for sharing beautiful Hoary bat pictures (see #2 Humbug), and various other bat scicomms peeps inspiring and encouraging me on this project. FatBatWeek also came hard on the heels of a several month lockdown here in Australia - I spent 50 days designing a "Lock Dragon" a day (you can see them over on @yesthattallulah on Cara) And being in the habit of doing a daily drawing FatBatWeek was a delight - though its also really good to stop each year while I still want to draw them.
